North Topsail Beach to receive preliminary FEMA assessment

NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, N.C. (WNCT)- North Topsail Beach has completed its damage assessment after last weekend’s storm.

Assistant Town Manager Carin Faulkner says the report was forwarded to Onslow County, who then requested a preliminary disaster assessment from the state FEMA office.

FEMA officials will be in Topsail next week to assess the damage and it will be a few more weeks before we know if there will be a presidential disaster declaration.

Faulkner says while there was no major structural damage to the buildings and homes in the town, the storm significantly impacted the shoreline and dunes system.
