GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Around 100 middle school girls learned about STEM at ECU Friday.
The goal was to get girls interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields. Currently only 25 percent of woman make up jobs in the STEM fields. Assistant professor of Engineering, Teresa Ryan, says its important to show them how to problem solve.
“Looking at things and how does it work or how can I make it work or make it better for less money or make it stronger and faster and starting that process of how can you use science to improve the world around you,” explained Teresa Ryan.
Ryan is glad to help young girls learn more about the STEM fields.
