How to deal with flooding aftermath

CHOCOWINITY, N.C. (WNCT) – While many clean up the damages left from flooding, many need to be aware of the dangers that are in the waters.

In Chocowinity many people spent the day picking up debris and power washing their decks but People need to be aware that it’s important to clean with toxic chemicals to wash away the harmful water. Homeowner Tom Randolf says he spent the day picking up dead fish and worms in his yard.
“You have to pressure wash and clean it with Clorox to kill all of the bacteria because everyone knows living by the water, when the water equalizes you have septic tanks backing up and stuff so you have to Clorox everything and use bacteria soap,” explained Randolf.
Randolf says its important to clean as soon as the water subsides. Click here for more information.
