Forklift drivers compete in Forklift Rodeo

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT)- Forklift drivers put their skills to the test today in the 3rd annual Forklift Rodeo.

The competition aims to raise awareness for forklift safety. The rodeo has three competitions: threading the needle, bowling, and dodge ball. Each driver is judged based on time and points. Drivers receive negative points for safety infractions. Pitt Community College hosts the event.

“Everything that we probably touch, or come in contact with is at some point in time touched or moved by a forklift,” Jerry Jones with Pitt Community College said. “We want to create some friendly competition with our local industries and highlight and promote work place safety.”

Six companies competed in this year’s rodeo. The winner takes home a trophy and bragging rights for the year.
