One Camp Lejuene gate closed for Urgent Response Exercise

CAMP LEJUENE, N.C. (WNCT)- The Wilson Gate at Camp Lejuene will be closed on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The marine base is practicing its Exercise Urgent Response for 2015.

Urgent Response is a full-scale exercise to train emergency services on responding to a major crisis incident. The exercise will simulate a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device. Emergency services will be cooperating on the installation to include fire and police services, the emergency operations center and Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune. The mass notification system will sound at the beginning of the exercise.

Traffic will not be allowed in or out of the Wilson Gate until the exercise is complete. Resident aboard the base are asked to seek alternate routes and prepare for delays.
