Mandatory evacuation lifted for Ocracoke Island

OCRACOKE ISLAND, N.C. (WNCT)- Hyde County officials lifted the mandatory evacuation for Ocracoke Island as of 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Access to the island is limited to emergency personnel, utilities, vendors, residents, and non-resident property owners. Visitors are prohibited until further notice. The N.C. Ferry Division is also resuming it’s regular schedule to Ocracoke.

Local flooding on roads is still an issue and drivers should exercise extreme caution.
