Greenville prepares for heavy rain and flash flooding

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Greenville Public Works is warning residents about potential flooding danger this weekend.

Flood prone areas in Greenville include the Green Mill Run watershed, some major roadways, and areas around the Tar River.

We’ve already seen some road closures due to flooding, including Evans Street near Arlington Thursday morning.

Public Works Director Kevin Mulligan says we face bigger problems than just what falls here in the East.

“Water from Raleigh will come down the Tar and the Neuse and that could provide complications to us similar to some other hurricanes where we saw that,” Mulligan said.

Mulligan says they have extra vehicles and crews on standby should Greenville get hit hard this weekend.
