Fetal tissue ban headed to governor’s desk

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCT) – A measure banning the sale of fetal tissue in North Carolina heads to Governor Pat McCrory’s desk.

The state House gave final approval to the measure Monday.

This comes after several videos surfaced showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing how they provide aborted fetal organs for research.

Planned Parenthood in North Carolina says it’s never donated fetal tissue nor sold it.

Under new measures, selling aborted fetal organs for research will be a “low-grade” felony.

The legislation would also prevent Planned Parenthood from receiving certain state funds aimed at family planning and pregnancy prevention.
