FBI details NC crime numbers in new report

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNCT) – The FBI released new data on Monday a report which compiles data from 2014.

On the national level, the Crime in the United States report shows the number of violent crimes decreased by .02 percent in 2014. Violent crimes include murder and rape.

In North Carolina, authorities reported over 32,000 instances of violent crime.

Some Eastern North Carolina data on violent crime is as follows:

  • Greenville: 468
  • Kinston: 391.
  • New Bern: 122
  • Onslow County: 171
  • Beaufort County: 62
  • Duplin County: 103

The report looks at data voluntarily given by local law enforcement.
