Pirate fans tailgate despite rainy weather

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A little rain didn’t stop some pirates from tailgating and having a good time before the big game against Virginia Tech.

The flags were flying rain or shine and pirate’s fans were still out having a good time tailgating.

“When pirates play football we tail gate, every time. No exceptions. Right outside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium right at the back of the score board, we are here partying,” said Brandon Robertson.

And thousands of fans did just that, sporting their ECU gear for the biggest home game of the season. One set of tailgaters even had their own TV with satellite.

Senior ECU student Brandon Robertson says a little rain never hurt a pirate. “It’s not going to stop us at all. We will all be in their screaming louder than If it was sunny.”

Robertson says he and his family camped outside all morning. “We had pork tender loins, all sorts of casseroles, and homemade margaritas and we are drinking up and having a good time.”

Besides the pirates, there were many Virginia Tech fans throughout the crowd. “Let’s go Tech,” said a fan.

ECU fans ready for a win.

“We are unstoppable, we are going to come back and win. We already forgot about those other two games and we are going to come back strong,” said Holly Davenport.
