Lenoir County Schools hold emergency drill

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – Law enforcement and teachers prepare for an active shooter at Lenoir County Public Schools.

Around 75 teachers from around the county and over 20 deputies and officers attended the drill.

Teachers were able to ask questions and get advice on how to handle an emergency situation.

Lenoir County Public School teacher Joe Nobles says it’s important to work out the flaws and work together as a team.

“Everybody that is involved in this process are committed to helping children and working together to make sure we provide a safe environment for young people and as leaders and as officials. We are working together to ensure that safety,” says Nobles.

All schools in North Carolina are required to have a plan in place for emergencies.

Lenoir County Public Schools are planning to hold another drill next year.
