Newport teen charged with statutory rape to make 1st court appearance

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) – A Newport teen is behind bars, accused of statutory rape.

Deputies say they arrested Anthony Travis Morgan, 19, on Monday for the statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl he knew. He’s charged with one county of statutory rape and was placed in the Carteret County Jail under a $25,000 bond.

He is scheduled for his first court appearance on Tuesday. There’s no further information available due to the age of the victim.
