RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) — An elderly man and a woman were hurt when they were hit by a vehicle that fled at a Walmart parking lot in Raleigh on Saturday.
Authorities said the incident happened at 4 p.m. at the parking lot of the Walmart at 4431 New Bern Ave.
The two victims, Abram Servance, age 80, and Mary Pharr, age 60, were transported to WakeMed for treatment of their injuries, Raleigh Police said. The names of the two victims are not yet available for release.
A short time later, a traffic stop was conducted by Raleigh Police officers near the intersection of Millbrook and Green roads and a suspect in the incident was detained.
That suspect, Devin Robert Singleton-Young, age 23, was later charged with two counts of felony hit-and-run, along with one count each of DWI, misdemeanor hit-and-run, careless-and-reckless driving, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana, police said.
He was transported to the Wake County Detention Center.
The investigation of the pedestrian-involved collision is being conducted by the Raleigh Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit. That investigation remains underway, and a wreck report has not yet been completed.
