“Operation Medicine Drop” at Town Common Saturday

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office hosted “Operation Medicine Drop” at Town Common in Greenville Saturday.

“Operation Medicine Drop” is a statewide initiative aimed at keeping prescription drugs out of the wrong hands by facilitating proper disposal. Flushing old medicine can harm the environment and wildlife.

Matt Lambeth who works with addiction says it’s important the Sheriff’s Office holds this event.

“People develop an addiction to them and the majority of the times they are coming from their own house and they are coming from an unlocked medicine cabinet or their used or expired medications,” explained Lambeth.

Community members can always drop any old or unwanted medicine off at the Sheriff’s Office.
