Greenville Public Works hold shred event Saturday

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) -Greenville Public Works encourages residents to safely remove any old documents at a shred event Saturday morning.

The documents are placed in a large trash can then lifted into the Super Shed truck where they are disposed of securely. A community member says it’s important to have a safe place to shred.

“A lot of stuff that is going on now and your information getting misplaced and once it gets misplaced and someone steals it’s hard to get it back,” explained Jennie Hedgepth.

Workers say it’s important to not litter or burn papers in burn piles or pits. WNCT will host a Shred-A-Thon on October 3 in New Bern at the Lowes Home Improvement store.
