ECU students say Fiorina dominated 2nd GOP debate

East Carolina University students watch the second GOP debate.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Some East Carolina University (ECU) students believe presidential candidate Carly Fiorina’s poll numbers will rise after her performance in Wednesday night’s GOP debate.

The students were part of a watch party hosted by ECU’s Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society.

Several Republican students were impressed with how Fiorina responded to Donald Trump’s comments on her appearance.

“I really think Carly Fiorina really showed herself to the American people,” Trey Hendricks said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she came out on top. I think she’s genuine.”

“I think Carly really has a good chance to actually being able to oppose Hillary on a very high level,” Kristen Longmire, a Libertarian, said.

Many of the students agreed Donald Trump will suffer in the polls following the debate.

“I think Trump’s going to go down. Christie might go up. Carson will take first I think,” Giovanni Triana said.
