Belhaven votes to cover some legal fees for Pungo Hospital

BELHAVEN, N.C. (WNCT) – The Belhaven Board of Alderman voted 3-2 Monday to cover some of the legal fees that have accumulated during the fight to re-open Pungo Hospital.

Belhaven Mayor Adam O’Neal said the two alderman who voted against it were Tony Williams and Vic Cox.

O’Neal said the amount the town voted to cover was around $8,000, but said the old hospital foundation could help cover some of that fee.

The lawsuit battle between the town and Vidant Health could be back in court as early as October.
