Volunteer Fire Depts. credited with quick response to multiple fires

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Crews from multiple departments in Onslow County responded to a fire in Jacksonville Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m.

The Richlands Volunteer Fire Department congratulated the crews online for quickly getting this fire, along with another fire Sunday morning, under control. The Facebook post says the Sunday fire was in the Back Swamp area of the county.

Reports say the Saturday fire fully engulfed the structure and took crews 4 hours to get it under control.

The social media post says it was a very busy weekend for the Richland’s Volunteer Fire Department area along with other first responders, siting three fires in the last 24 hours.

All of the calls were answered by volunteer departments.
