Untreated water spill in New Bern

NEW BERN, NC (WNCT)- There was a discharge of untreated wastewater in New Bern. A representative with the city says the spill was due to pipe failure. An estimated 18,000 gallons of water from an eight inch sanitary sewer were discharged.

The spill is located 800 feet east of the intersection of Trent Road and US Highway 17. The untreated wastewater was discharged into Wilson Creek in the Neuse River Basin.

Representatives with the city are reviewing the incident.
