Suspect identified in Greenville armed robbery

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Greenville Police are crediting a K9 officer for tracking down an armed robbery suspect Sunday evening. The call came in around 9:30 p.m. of an incident at Hardees on Charles Street. K9 Patton and other officers were sent to the scene.

Patton quickly tracked the suspect, 35-year-old Charles Onvert Pierce, to an abandoned building on Bells Ford Road where he was arrested.

No one was injured during the robbery. The cash that was taken was recovered on the scene.

Pierce is charged with common law robbery and second degree kidnapping. He’s at the Pitt Co. Detention Center under a $450,000 bond.

Greenville Police say they are investigating an armed robbery at a Hardees on Charles Street in the Bells Fork Square Shopping Center. Officers are on the scene and very minimal details are available at this time.

Witnesses tell WNCT the robbery happened around 9:30 p.m. Sunday evening. WNCT has a crew on the scene and will have more details as they become available.
