GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A private school in Greenville is taking part in the state’s opportunity scholarship program.
The Oakwood School welcomed students back Thursday. It is one of 7 schools in Pitt County that are accepting state tax dollars from low income applicants to cover tuition.
Last month, the State Supreme Court ruled the program legal.
Parents had fought for the program wanting a better fit for their children.
Those at the Oakwood School hope to be a part of the education choice for families. Each opportunity scholarship applicant gets around $4,000 from the state.
