Man leads police on high speed chase in Lenoir County

PINK HILL, N.C. (WNCT) – The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office tells 9 On Your Side there was a high speed chase in Lenoir County Thursday evening.

Sheriff Ronnie Ingram says deputies were called to assist the Pink Hill Police Department with capturing a man who fled from police.

Deputies received the call around 7:15p.m. They were called to 1100 block of Watering Pond Road. Ingram says officers attempted to stop the car and at some point the driver got out and ran into the woods. He supposedly had a gun.

Ingram says the chase reached over 100 mph.

Ingram says police were trying to serve the man commitment papers when he ran away.

Ingram says the man was found and apprehended around 8:00p.m.
