GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT)- Hundreds of County Commissioners from around North Carolina are in Greenville for their annual conference. This year’s theme is “Bringing Counties Together.” Each day there are multiple sessions for commissioners to choose from. Bertie County Chairman, Ron Wesson, is excited to collaborate with his colleagues from across the state.
“It’s a great opportunity, we see it that way, to get to know our fellow commissioners and learn from each other and just the comradery, and the networking, fellowship, it is awesome”, Wesson said. “To me the collaboration is one of the highlights, the courses are good but the netowrking is better.”
This is the first major conference at the Greenville Convention Center since its renovation. Pitt County Manager says this conference is big for the county.
“We have approximately 900 attendees, I think the economic impact was a little less than $300,000 on this conference to Greenville and the county,” Elliott said.
