EMERALD ISLE, N.C. (WNCT) – One Carteret County company plans to pave the way for smaller companies to succeed and boost options for you in Emerald Isle.
What started out as an idea between two men and started in the back of a surf shop became a reality Monday in Emerald Isle for their new headquarters.
Now the company is one step closer to help smaller companies save money on shipping costs by evaluating their transportation fees.
Dozens gathered for the groundbreaking ceremony of Transportation Impact.
This company will be in a new building that also opens up spaces for other companies to move in.
They’ll be offices, residential suites, and a top of the line restaurant for the town of Emerald Isle.
For the co-founders, Travis Burt and Keith Byrd, staying local is what matters most.
“You know this is our home, and to be able to touch company’s globally and come from a small town in emerald isle and keep the revenue here, the jobs here,” said Byrd.
Only three people started with the company back in 2008, then it grew to nearly 40 employees in five years.
And with that rate, the Mayor said he’s excited that there will be more than just seasonal work in the area.
“You can have a year round business in emerald isle, and it gives proof to the point that emerald isle is open for business year round,” said Mayor Barber.
The company’s also been recognized for growing sales with a 256 percent increase in the past three years.
Transportation Impact also announced on Monday that it made the Inc. 1000 list for the third straight year in a row.
