Students receive free school supplies in Greenville

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Pentecostals in Greenville are giving back to their community by hosting a neighborhood back to school party.

The event gives children supplies they need to start the school year off right and also have a little fun before their summer comes to an end. About 300 people showed up to the annual event ready to win prizes and get new school gear.

“A lot of the reason why some of our kids don’t do as well is because they don’t have the resources they need. So if we can give them the resources they need, they can get a higher platform or elevation to do well, I believe,” said Derrick Boyce.

Boyce says the church received donations from Sam’s Club, Walmart and Five Below. The church is handing out over 100 backpacks with school supplies.
