Patios near parking deck in Greenville can now stay open past midnight

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Restaurants near the parking deck in Greenville are now allowed to keep their patios open past midnight.

Greenville City Council made changes to an easement at last night’s meeting that would have forced restaurants and bars like Crave to close their patios after midnight. Michael Glenn attended the council meeting and says he’s in support of letting the businesses do what they want.

“If these guys want to be outside and put people on the street, lets encourage them to do it and lets empower them to make this a powerful thing for their business without creating regulations that are overbearing and unnecessary,” said Michael Glenn.

The facility has to feature both dining and entertainment to keep the patio open past midnight. Fitzgerald’s says it is opening a patio September 5th.
