Eastern NC literary, musical traditions focus of program

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The literary and musical traditions of eastern North Carolina will be showcased in presentations by North Carolina poet laureate Shelby Stephenson and author Georgann Eubanks.

The program will be held Thursday morning at the N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh.

Stephenson, who is also a singer, says most of his poems come out of his childhood when he grew up on a farm near Benson. Eubanks spent 10 years writing three books in the “Literary Trails of North Carolina” series. She traveled back roads in all 100 counties to discover connections among the state’s best writers.
