Arrest made in Craven Co. home invasion

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – The Craven County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday they had made an arrest in a home invasion that led to a homeowner being shot. The homeowner was transported to Vidant Medical Center, but did survive. It happened back on July 30th on Lynchfield Dr.

After an investigation, the Sheriff’s Office arrested Kywine Marcell Velasquez, and charged him with First Degree Burglary and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to kill.

He’s currently being held in the Craven County Jail under a $750,000 secure bond. Further charges against him are pending.

The second suspect in this incident is still at large. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Craven County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 252-636-6632.
