Sheriff: Edgecombe County man charged in fatal stabbing

Sharpsburg, N.C. (WNCT) – One man is dead and another charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Edgecombe County.

Sharpsburg Police and the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a stabbing at 250 Camland Circle, Sharpsburg and found Tobias Toler dead at the scene.

Deputies say an investigation later revealed that Toler was visiting with Alphonzo Harvey, the suspect, and refused to leave when asked. An altercation ensued resulting in Harvey fatally stabbing Toler in the upper chest.

Harvey left the scene but was located and taken into custody without incident.

The 52-year-old suspect has been charged with first degree murder and is being held in the Edgecombe County Detention Center without bond.
