SNEADS FERRY, N.C. (WNCT) – If you’re looking to plan ahead for your weekend, make sure to check out the Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival this Saturday and Sunday.
A parade will kick off the event Saturday morning at 9a.m., with the gates at the festival site open from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The event will also include live entertainment, a beer and wine garden, arts and crafts, a car show, children’s games, fireworks, and even some celebrities.
In its 45th year, the festival aims to celebrate the fishing community of Sneads Ferry and the surrounding areas.
“For the community and the people who live here or have lived here their whole lives, the heritage, it just celebrates what they do,” said Shrimp Festival Chairperson Jennifer Marshburn. “Commercial fishing is a very rigorous industry.”
Marshburn said she she expects up to 10,000 patrons to attend the event, and for those big shrimp lovers out there, there will be shrimp dinners, as well as a shrimp heading competition.
