New Crystal Coast Welcome Center nearly ready for opening

EMERALD ISLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The new Crystal Coast Welcome Center is complete and almost ready to open in Emerald Isle.

The new building will house the tourism center which is currently located in Morehead City. The Town of Emerald Isle owns the building and will lease the new facility to the county to help pay off the cost of construction. Town Manager Frank Rush says the new center will have a direct impact on the Crystal Coast economy.

“We really think the location in Emerald Isle is really going to increase the number of visitors that come to the facility and learn more about our area, and, ultimately, will hopefully result in them spending more money in our community and coming back next year and many times after that,” explained Frank Rush, Emerald Isle Town Manager.

The new facility cost over $200,000 and the county has rented the space for 10 years. The new welcome center is scheduled to open August 20th.
