UNC student out on bond

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WNCT)- A University of North Carolina student charged with murder after a wrong-way crash is free on bond.

20-year-old Chandler Michael Kania was released Tuesday, shortly after his family posted his million dollar bond.

Authorities say Kania was driving the wrong way on Interstate 85 earlier this month when he collided with another car.

Three people were killed in the crash, including a six-year-old girl.

Kania was charged with second degree murder, driving after consuming alcohol as a minor, possession of alcohol by a minor and having an open container of alcohol in the car.
