Deputies asking for information in two Martin Co. shootings

OAK CITY, NC. (WNCT) – The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to find the people responsible for two shootings that sent two people to the hospital.

Deputies tell 9 On Your Side the shootings happened on homes on NC-125 in Oak City.

The Sheriff’s Office says the first shooting happened on July 23rd around 10:30p.m. Deputies a man was approached by a group of males in the driveway of his home on the 4500 block of NC-125. Deputies say the suspects were attempted to rob the victim when one of them shot him in leg.

Deputies identify the victim as 21-year-old Luis Gallegos-Hernandez. He was treated and released from Martin General Hospital.

The second shooting happened on July 25th just before 2:30a.m. Deputies say the second shooting happened at a home on the 5200 block of NC-125. Investigators say a woman and her husband sleeping when they heard someone attempting to break into their home. When the two tried to block the suspects from entering a shot came through the door and hit the woman in the chest.

Deputies identify the woman as 37-year-old Ana Ramirez. Ramirez was transported to Martin General before being taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Investigators say they are looking for an older model black or dark blue Ford Crown Victoria. Deputies say the car is believed to involved in both incidents.
