Greenville man hit, killed in Saturday morning car accident identified

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Greenville police identified a pedestrian hit and killed by a car on Saturday morning.

Police say 27-year-old Derrick Ray Stanton of Greenville was hit by a car and killed on Memorial Drive near Chapman Road.

GPD says Staton was wearing dark clothing the early morning he was killed.

The driver called police to report the accident around 1:30 a.m.

No charges have been filed against the driver.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Greenville Police say a man was hit by a car early Saturday morning on Memorial Drive near Chapman Road. The victim died on the scene. Investigators are now working to identify the victim.

The man was wearing dark clothing and did not have any identification. The driver called police to report the accident around 1:30 a.m. The driver, who has cooperated fully with investigators, has not been charged.
