Windsor Police: Suspect in car battery shooting to make 1st court appearance

WINDSOR, N.C. (WNCT) -A man accused of shooting another man over a car battery will make his first court appearance on Wednesday.

The Windsor Police Department says the shooting happened on July 16th. Police say they were called to Vidant Bertie Hospital at reference to gunshot victim. Police say the victim, 35-year-old Ibn Gilliam, stated he had been shot on the 700 block of Ghent Street.

Officers say the investigation led them identify the suspect as 35-year-old Montrell Outlaw of Windsor.

Police say Outlaw turned himself in on July 16th.

Police charged Outlaw with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. He was placed in the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail under a $25,000 bond.

Jail records show Outlaw has since bonded out a jail and will his first court appearance on Wednesday.

Gilliam was later transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment.
