Suspect wanted in Craven Co stolen guns case

NEW BERN, NC (WNCT) – The Craven County Sheriff’s Office have arrested two and looking for a third in connection to a home break-in involving stolen weapons.

Deputies say on July 15th, a home was broken into near the Bridgeton area and several firearms were stolen.

Investigators performed a traffic stop and recovered a few weapons and then obtained warrants to search the homes of the suspects. They arrested two men after they found more stolen weapons and property.

William Lee Brown, 23 of New Bern, was arrested and charged with five counts of larceny of a firearm, possession of stolen firearms and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Brown was also charged with felony breaking and entering and resisting arrest.

Thomas Perry Jr, 23 of New Bern, was arrested and charged with five counts of larceny of a firearm, possession of stolen firearms, felony breaking and entering and possession of stolen property.

Deputies are looking for a third suspect.

Christopher Jones Matthews, 28 of Bridgeton, has warrants out for his arrest. They include 5 counts for larceny of a firearm, felony breaking and entering, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony larceny. Matthews is believed to be hiding from law enforcement somewhere in the Craven Terrace area of New Bern.
