NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) — Heightened security measures at National Guard facilities will affect the armory in New Bern.
Governor McCrory ordered tighter security at the North Carolina National Guard facilities in reaction to the Chattanooga shootings.
“The governor instructed our department to work with National Guard leadership and to review security measures across the state and tighten our security at those facilities,” said Pamela Walker from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.
The specifics of the security enhancements at the New Bern armory will not be released, but the North Carolina Department of Public Safety says some of the measures at recruiting facilities may be visible to the public. Trained military officers will stand guard at the National Guard recruiting facilities across the state.
