Elizabeth City police find robbery suspect through Facebook

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (AP) — Police in Elizabeth City can credit their Facebook post for finding an armed robbery suspect.

Local media outlets report authorities said a woman was returning her shopping cart to a CVS Pharmacy on Monday when a man jumped into the backseat of her SUV, pulled out a steak knife and demanded that she drive to an ATM

Capt. John Young said the woman jumped from the vehicle and screamed for help, while the man jumped from the SUV and ran.

After investigators posted pictures of the woman and the suspect on Facebook, an anonymous caller identified the suspect.

Joshua Denmark faces multiple charges, including second-degree kidnapping and felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. He’s jailed on a $20,000 bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
