Pitt Community College graduates new batch of firefighters and EMTs

WINTERVILLE, N.C.- (WNCT) Nine newly certified firemen are done with training as cadets of fire academy eight. These men are already members of various volunteer fire departments around Pitt County and will bring their new knowledge to their fellow firefighters. They’ve graduated from Pitt Community College’s fire & emergency services training course. Many hope to find jobs as paid firemen in the future.
Matthew Taylor, PCC fire academy graduate, says “Being in fire service, you never stop learning. The fire academy is a great opportunity to come in and learn state of the art techniques.”
The seven month program is tough, starting with 18 students and only half finishing with state certification.
