Tar Heel beats North State in 10-11 play in game moved from Newport

GREENVILLE- (WNCT) Trent Spencer collected three hits and drove in a pair of runs to lead Greenville Tar Heel to a 5-2 win over rival North State Monday night at Elm Street Park.

The District IV, 10-11 year old tournament game was moved to Greenville after heavy rains in the Newport area earlier in the day.

Brandon Warren went the distance for Tar Heel, striking out five and giving up only four hits.

Tar Heel scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed. The squad scored five more times in the sixth to pull away.

Rocky Mount American beat Rocky Mount National 4-2 in the regularly scheduled 11-12 game. Rocky Mount American advances to play Greenville Tar Heel in that championship series beginning tomorrow night at 5:30.
