Greene Co. deputy loses control of vehicle due to weather conditions

HOOKERTON, N.C. (WNCT) – A Greene County deputy’s vehicle went off the road in Hookerton due to slick weather conditions Monday morning, according to Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith.

Sheriff Smith says the deputy was driving along Shady Grove Church Rd. near NC 123 around 7:30 a.m. when he lost control along a bridge due to the rain, hit a guardrail and ended up in a wooded area.

The deputy was not hurt but there was some damage to the side of his vehicle.

The NC Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the accident.
