Burglary suspect critical after being shot in side

STELLA, N.C. (WNCT) – A suspect to a burglary is in critical condition after being shot in his side. Onslow County Sheriff’s Office responded and found Gaberail Wright lying on the front porch of 444 Belgrade Swansboro Road. Responding deputies performed life saving measures on Wright until rescue personnel arrived and transported him to the hospital.

Benjamin and Sharon Ethiers were awakened by their dogs barking and found Wright inside their bedroom crawling around on their floor, according to deputies. Wright had a handgun in his possession when he was found that he apparently took from a closet. Mr. Ethier retrieved another handgun from his nightstand and fired at Wright. Wright is currently being treated at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
