GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The showers Saturday afternoon didn’t stop community members in Greenville from taking a stand to end violent crimes.
The annual event gives people of all ages the chance to listen to speakers, dance and learn about God. The block party brings awareness to crime in our area and tries to show people alternatives. The organizer of the event says rain or shine, the show will still go on.
“Our goal out of today is to make sure the next time a crime happens, the next time that somebody thinks about committing a crime, just think about what they can do to help somebody, so we want to keep that happening and young kids and everybody to have a positive influence on each other,” said Timothy Parker.
Parker estimates that over 150 people will be at today’s event. He says this event brings everyone together and forms a community relationship.
