Shark fishing banned at Emerald Isle

EMERALD ISLE, NC (WNCT) – Emerald Isle officials temporarily banned shark fishing through the end of summer.

The Board of Commissioners on Monday to adopt the new ordinance that restricts the “chumming” activities on the beach and shore areas.

If you are caught, you can face a civil penalty.

The ban lasts until September 15th.

There have been 8 reported shark attacks off our coast this year.
