Pamlico Co. Commissioners to hear duck impoundment concerns

BAYBORO N.C. (WNCT) – For the second time in less than a month, concerned citizens from the Hobucken area on Goose Creek Island plan to talk to commissioners about safety concerns surrounding duck hunting impoundments.

County officails said they’ve heard concerns from these residents several times.

Pamlico County Manger Tim Buck said this matter is really out of the county’s hands.

“In North Carolina, counties are a subdivision of the state and we can only act if we’re given that authority by the state to act,” Buck said.

He said the county’s attorney believed it is the legislature’s role to regulate duck hunting. He doesn’t think commissioners will take action at Monday’s meeting.
