Marine treated for possible shark bite, 8th of NC coast

GREENVILLE, N.C (WNCT) – A 32-year-old Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune was admitted into the Naval Hospital Camp due to a possible shark bite.

The Director of Public Affairs for Camp Lejeune, Nat Fahy, says he was admitted at 10:41 PM on July 4th and treated for lacerations to his right hand and forearm sustained in waters near Surf City. He was released at 3:29 A.M July 5th.

The injuries are considered non-life threatening and he was transported to the Naval Hospital by a friend according to hospital records.
