Vanceboro man arrested on drug, weapons charges

BAYBORO, N.C. (WNCT)—A Vanceboro man is behind bars in Pamlico County today facing drug and weapons charges as a result of an undercover drug operation.

33-year old Derek L. Taylor was arrested by officers with the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office early Thursday morning after Taylor texted an undercover officer to set up a drug deal. After finalizing details of the buy, Taylor met with the undercover agent and was subsequently taken into custody. A search of Taylor’s person revealed a loaded .357 revolver, methadone, Xanax, and an undisclosed amount of money.

Taylor faces one count of Possession With Intent to Sell and Distribute a controlled substance (Schedule II), one count of Possession With Intent to Sell a controlled substance (Schedule IV), one felony count of carrying a concealed weapon due to a previous conviction for the same offense, and one count of attempting to possess a controlled substance. He is currently being held in the Pamlico County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
