Marines injured in head-on collision near Holly Ridge

HOLLY RIDGE, NC (WNCT) – North Carolina troopers responded to the scene of an accident where a Marine Corps Humvee collided with a dump truck.

Troopers told WNCT it happened on Thursday afternoon on N.C. 50 in Holly Ridge.

They said two reserve marines went to Vidant Medical Center after the accident.

Troopers say the two marines had finished their last day of training at Camp Lejeune and were headed home when they had a head-on crash with a dump truck on the shoulder of the road.

The driver of the Humvee, identified as having a last name of Reddick, suffered a head injury. Troopers say the passenger, identified as having a last name of Cox, was injured as well, but did not comment on his injuries.

There were other marines behind them and jumped out to respond after the accident.

No word yet if charges of any kind would be filed.
