Free skin cancer screening Wednesday in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville will be hosting a free skin cancer screening Wednesday starting at 9 a.m.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, affecting those of all races.

Those at risk for skin cancer often spend a lot of time in the sun, use tanning beds, have fair skin, or have a family member who has or had skin cancer.

“Melanoma is a very, obviously a very deadly form of skin cancer, the most deadly,” explained Amy Sousa, Vice-president of Public Relations, Onslow Memorial Hospital. “And it’s really important for us to reach out to or community and educate them and maybe even save a life in the process.”

Screenings will take place at Central Coast Dermatology and are by appointment only. Call 910-577-2581 to schedule an appointment.
