Suspect arrested in killing of New Orleans officer

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – New Orleans Police Superintendent Michael Harrison says a man believed to have shot and killed a police officer has been captured after a 24-hour manhunt.

He says 33-year-old Travis Boys had broken handcuffs on his wrist when he was arrested Sunday morning and taken to a hospital for treatment of apparent dehydration.

Boys is accused of slipping into the front seat of a police vehicle while handcuffed and shooting veteran officer Daryle Holloway, who was taking him to jail on an assault charge.

Police say Boys was arrested by a rookie officer and his trainer who spotted him getting on a city bus.
